Atalanta equalise in the 14th minute: De Ketelaere produces a brilliant pass for Krstovic, who controls and beats Palmisani with a precise, curling right-footed shot into the corner. Frosinone respond immediately, though: in the 17th minute, Ghedjemis bursts down the right and cuts the ball back for Schmid, who once again keeps his cool to complete his brace and make it 1-2. Meanwhile, there is trouble for Bellanova, who is forced off with a muscle injury.
In the 32nd minute comes what looks like a turning point in the match: VAR intervenes to overturn the referee's initial decision after Cittadini stretches out his arm and handles De Ketelaere's header. Following the review, Atalanta are awarded a penalty. Ederson steps up to make amends for his costly early mistake: the Brazilian keeps his cool, beats Palmisani and brings the sides level again.
Atalanta then complete the comeback through Krstovic: Zappacosta takes the initiative, drives forward and finds the striker, whose perfectly timed finish beats Palmisani. A brace for Krstovic and a 3-2 lead for Atalanta. That's how the first half ends.
