Brian Daboll, former coach of the New York Giants, reportedly would prefer to work as offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans if he doesn't land the coaching job with the Buffalo Bills.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Jan. 21 teams like the Philadelphia Eagles with offensive coordinator vacancies are conducting interviews under the assumption that Daboll is pursuing the coaching job in Buffalo. Daboll grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo and worked as the Bills' offensive coordinator from 2018-21, mentoring quarterback Josh Allen in the early years of his career. The Bills surprised many by firing coach Sean McDermott on Jan. 19, leaving the franchise without the coach who steered them into the postseason eight times in nine years.
The Titans have an agreement in place with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to become the Titans' next head coach, as The Tennessean reported on Jan. 19. The hiring has yet to be made official by the Titans.
The Eagles are conducting their offensive coordinator search with the understanding that Brian Daboll wants the Bills’ head coaching job. If he doesn’t land it, Daboll is expected to wind up in Tennessee as the offensive coordinator for Cam Ward and the Titans, per sources.

Saleh and Daboll overlapped as New York City head coaches from 2022-24. Saleh was coach of the Jets while Daboll was in his first of three seasons coaching the Giants. The two have never otherwise worked together, though Daboll briefly overlapped with Titans GM Mike Borgonzi in 2012 when Daboll was the Chiefs' offensive coordinator and Borgonzi was a pro scout.
Daboll was the NFL's Coach of the Year in 2022 after leading the Giants to the playoffs with a 9-7-1 record. He never posted another winning season in New York and was fired midway through the 2025 season. The Titans interviewed Daboll for their coaching vacancy in January but Daboll did not make it to the finalist round.
The quarterback-needy Giants heavily scouted Titans quarterback Cam Ward during the build-up to the 2025 NFL Draft. Early indications were that the Giants were enamored with Ward from the beginning of the draft process, and on draft night ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Giants offered the Titans multiple first-round picks to move up to No. 1 with the intentions of selecting Ward.
